Thank you, @celadonbooks for my advanced copy of #TheKingdomsofSavannah !

The brutal murder of a young homeless man and the disappearance of his friend with a critical secret kickstart a fervid investigation for truth and justice. Jaq, a fiery young woman, takes on role of vigilante when it becomes clear that corruption is stopping the police from getting the job done. Also on the case, with a very different motivation, is her grandmother and matriarch of one of Savannah’s most prominent and influential families, Morgana Musgrove.

Forced to put aside deep-seeded resentments, the members of this dysfunctional family are recruited and a whirlwind of a crusade ensues.

Based on some of Savannah’s dark history, this truly riveting story exposes a gruesome past of bigotry that has been buried for centuries.

The Kingdoms of Savannah is told in layers on top of layers of twists, deceit, and corruption. The ride is utterly enthralling and once you get to know this chorus of erratic characters, this book becomes unputdownable.

Full of powerful prose and rich, impactful scenes, this Southern Gothic Noir is riveting, fabulously unsettling, convoluted, and at times, touching. Personally, I found this family drama to outshine its counterparts by leaps and bounds and will be the yardstick by which all other family dramas will be measured.

My ONLY gripe is with a somewhat unfulfilled ending but I’m generally not a fan of endings that are open for interpretation.
