The Guilt Trip-Sandie Jones

Thank you, @minotaur_books for this ARC of #TheGuiltTrip! Thankfully, you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on this one as it releases 8/3

An utterly delightful thriller riddled with delicious lies and deceit!

Rachel and her husband, Jack arrive at a breathtaking villa along the shores of Nazaré to celebrate a wedding weekend of her brother-in-law and her soon to be sister-in-law, Ali. Along with Rachel’s best friend Paige and her oldest, dearest friend, Noah, this destination weekend is sure to be a memorable one.

It’s not long before the festivities go sour, however, as a trail of breadcrumbs leads Rachel to question just how well she knows this alluring, flirty, and devil-may-care bride. Why does Ali seem so infatuated with her soon to be brother-in-law? And why is he acting so shifty himself?

As Rachel seeks to unveil the truth, she must be careful as to not unveil the lie she’s been hiding for the past twenty years.

Accusations are made and tensions build quickly. The clock is ticking on this wedding and there is only so much time left to possibly stop a life altering decision from being made. More than a couple of people are playing with fire and it won’t be long before someone gets burned.

The Guilt Trip was such a fun, gripping read. The suspenseful build-up made it difficult to not devour this book in one sitting. I felt myself holding my breath along with these characters as they found themselves in the most dicey situations.

@sandiejones_author does an excellent job misleading her readers, which is something I greatly appreciate in a suspense novel. I also enjoyed that the ending wasn’t left too open-ended as I’ve often found to be the case in this genre. This girl need answers!

At the risk of sounding like a sadist, I loved how twisted this story was. As the rising tides inched their way up this oceanside venue, I delighted in watching these friends squirm as they found themselves irreparably over their heads. The Guilt Trip is the perfect reminder that all actions come with a price and a secret can never truly stay hidden forever.
