Green Heart- Alice Hoffman

What makes an author a favorite?

For me, a favorite is one that invokes every emotion, writes characters that mirror parts of yourself and, therefore, make you feel seen; characters you want to root for and never say goodbye to. For me, a favorite author is one who doesn’t write for a reader’s 𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏 but rather for their 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕.

In Alice Hoffman’s writing, my eyes are opened to different worlds, different walks of life, different journeys, and yet there is always this familiarity. I am swept off my feet with every story. I am always reminded of the essentiality of love. Whenever I finish a book I was truly enamored with, I hug it. All of my Hoffman books have been embraced and placed lovingly on her assigned shelf.

🌿 Green Heart (Green Angel & Green Witch) is an enchanting story of resilience, in a world in which it seems nothing else could possibly go wrong. @ahoffmanwriter fairytale-esque, lyrical writing shines. Here’s my unorthodox synopsis: you find an ember, with barely a flicker. It’s almost not even worth a second glance but something inside you whispers “give it a chance,” and so you nurture the ember, you keep it guarded. It’s not instant, but with the right care, a spark eventually appears. Kindling is gingerly added as not to smother the spark. The flame is fanned, and it turns out the ember among the ashes was a Phoenix all along.

Green Heart is a part heart-warming, part heart-breaking YA that breaks the age barrier and speaks to the soul.
