Wild Is The Witch- Rachel Griffin

After being completely enamored with Rachel Griffin’s #TheNatureofWitches last year, I knew I needed to get my hands on her next novel as soon as humanly possibly and so I am incredibly thankful to @sourcebooksfire for my early copy and beautiful package!

Iris Gray lives in the ideal environment and works the most ideal job for her magic, as a Lunar witch, to thrive. Her mother and her own and run The Foggy Mountain Wildlife Refuge- a perfect match for magic specializing in a deep connection with animals. Life could be a dream if not for her adversary, Pike Adler, an intern at the refuge with a deep-seeded hatred for magic.

With the intention of releasing the harm that Pike’s impact has on her, in a healthy way, Iris performs a cruel curse with the intention of stopping it before it is released. After the curse goes inconceivably wrong, latching itself to a mischievous owl, she is forced to team up with the very person she damned in her search for the cursed animal before disasters of epic proportions ensue.

Wild Is The Witch is a exhilarating, heartwarming ride. Those with an inclination towards magic and an appreciation for the great outdoors will admire Griffin’s love letter to nature, in the form of this book.

Her passion for the preservation of the environment shines through in the urgent search for the precious owl.

This story explores fragility in not only the form of nature but in human emotions and past hurts. I enjoyed witnessing tender moments amongst playful banter as the protagonists let their walls down in this endearing enemies to lovers trope (they’re forced to share a tent at one point! 😉)

Wild is The Witch is a triumph for #magicalrealism, YA, and literature as a whole. I’m so happy I opened my heart up to this story. I was not disappointed.
