Friday, the 13th Harvest Moon
I lick my lips to find a salty coating. The sun warms my shoulders as my hair has left them bare- blown with the contiunal gusts of wind.
My breath falls in tempo with the ocean. As a wave rolls in, I inhale and I exhale as the wave crashes onto the shoreline. A reminder.
Each toe wiggles its way deeper and deeper finding its home in the fine sand.
I found five gorgeous pieces of beach glass on my walk today- each piece building in its brilliance. I know this to be hardly coincidental, as they were meant for me to find. To kiss and cradle and marvel at.
Beach glass is my reminder to go slowly. The more we rush through life, the more likely we are to overlook its gifts. Beach glass has always been that symbol of validation and hope for me. That reminder that I am on the right path. My sign from a higher power to forge ahead with the knowledge that I am being supported every step of the way just as some people find feathers and others pennies.
The ripples etched into the sand feel a bit more familiar today. I look down at my bare thighs and see that they match. A so called "flaw" in this society is in fact something else entirely. It's yet another reminder that we ARE the earth We are more than connected. We are one.
Tonight is the first full moon to land on Friday, the 13th in 13 years. It will be the last one we will see until 2049. There are a few things that make today a little extra special. The number thirteen is associated with our menstrual cycles & the divine feminine. There are thirteen full moons in a year. Fridays are associated with Venus, the goddess of love and beauty.
My period just arrived with the moon in its usual fashion. How remarkable that the moon- the same moon that controls the tides of the mighty ocean- THAT moon finds me important enough to make a connection with me. It's a time to step into the divine feminine and release falling to victim- a time to look at ourselves and say "I've got this."
This Harvest, Pisces moon rattles up all sorts of emotions (trust me, my Pisces moon has been BRINGING IT this week.) The Pisces moon is offering to wash away anything that doesn't set our souls on ablaze. It's as safe a time as any to embrace our creative endeavors and walk away from any doubts.
