It Ends With Us- Colleen Hoover
Two days. In the past two days, I’ve fallen in love, had my heart clobbered, broken, and ultimately mended.
That’s what reading a Colleen Hoover novel can do to a person. It can be exactly what they didn’t know they needed.
First off, thank you to the mystery bookstagrammer who gifted me this book! I think I understand why it was this book and I thank you for giving me all the answers without saying a single word.
Healing takes time but I’m hopeful.
So, I don’t really want to include a synopsis on this one. I feel like most of you have read it anyway! (And if not, you should.)
I wasn’t ready for the Plethora (see what I did there, Miss @colleen ?) of emotions that accompanied this poignant story. This is one of the most real books I have ever read. This book is both painfully and beautifully human. I understand why #CoHo is 👑 in the bookstacommunity. She makes you feel seen.
Going into this, I was honestly worried it would Hallmark Channel-y but it so is not. Yes, there are two hot guys vying for the love of one young woman and yes, she has her dream job and the best friend, but Hoover refreshingly KEEPS IT REAL. To an outsider, someone’s life may seem so simple and perfect but we can truly never know what one is struggling with. (Especially in this age of only posting our highlight reels on social media.) It Ends With Us is an important reminder to be kind to everyone. We don’t know what goes on behind those smiles.
I appreciate novels like these that talk about the things we don’t like to talk about, things we’re ashamed of, and can be convinced no one else could possibly understand. I appreciate novels like these that remind us of our own inner fire that is capable of anything. Novels of strong heroines who refuse to settle for anything less than they deserve.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, mystery gifted and Ms. Colleen Hoover.
