The Lost Apothecary
After seeing this all over bookstagram, I HAD to get my hands on The Lost Apothecary and see what all the hype was about. I know you’ve already read a dozen synopses so I’ll keep this review super brief.
Likes
- The idea of telling the stories of unsung, everyday people always intrigues me.
- Potions! Yes! I adore tinctures and herbal concoctions. I’m unfamiliar with anything lethal so reading about poisons such as wolfsbane was a great deal of fun for me.
- The multiple POV of three women- all of which were courageous in their own right.
Dislikes
- I was left wanting more! I feel like this book has excellent bones but I would have liked more of a backstory on the apothecary herself.
- This is such a petty thing but Caroline wasn’t “American-ized” enough. There were quite a few terms and phrases in there that Americans don’t usually have in their repertoire.
- More scandal! More potions!
All in all, I thought The Lost Apothecary was solid. It was very cute and had a feel-good ending. I just feel like so much more could have been done with this plot!
Can I give it 3.75 stars? …because that feels right. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.75
